Billboard Music Awards 2015 roundup
Also known as the "Give Taylor Swift All the Awards" Awards
Out of the 13 award categories Taylor Swift was nominated for at this year's Billboard Music Awards, she took home nine. They are Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Hot 100 Song, Top Streaming Song (Video) and the fan-voted Billboard Chart Achievement Award Presented by Samsung Galaxy. What's more, she had two songs – Shake It Off and Blank Space – nominated in the Top Streaming Song (Video) category.
The world went nuts as she finally premiered her highly-anticipated music video for Bad Blood, which had so many pop culture film references, we're losing count. Watch it here.
To add to the hype, it's now becoming clearer than ever that Taylor is in a relationship with Calvin Harris – yes, it's even more obvious than the hand-holding. As the singer's 1989 album was announced as the winner of the Top Billboard 200 Album, she went over to Calvin for a hug and got a quick smooch from him.
Here's a nice .gif to cement that moment.
Moving on to the other winners, Calvin is obviously proud of his girl, but he didn't walk away empty handed. The Scottish DJ took home the Top Dance/Electronic Artist award, out of the three categories he was nominated for. Sam Smith, on the other hand, shared the same number of noms as Taylor, but only won Top Male Artist, Top New Artist and Top Radio Songs Artist – still a huge achievement for the singer, who turns 23 tomorrow (happy birthday in advance, Sam!).
Meanwhile, Iggy Azalea picked up the Top Rap Song, Top Streaming Artist and Top Rap Artist accolades, Pharrell Williams scored Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Album (for G I R L) and Top R&B Song (for Happy), and One Direction won Top Touring Artist and Top Duo/Group.
As Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Harry Styles went onstage to accept their Top Duo/Group trophy, Liam also gave a shout-out to "our brother Zayn" at the end of their speech. They confirmed to People that One Direction is not breaking up.
Later that night, Kendall and Kylie Jenner's received boos from the audience (cringe) as they took to the stage. We're not sure why the crowd got so rowdy, but we're impressed that the girls kept their composure as they introduced Kanye West. The rapper came out to perform All Day and Black Skinhead, half of which was rendered silent on TV thanks to the explicit lyrics and the censor department's trigger-happy guy.
Other performers that probably didn't need as much censoring included Imagine Dragons, Kelly Clarkson, Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, Britney Spears, Ed Sheeran, Nick Jonas (now, he was amazing!), Top Rock Artist winner Hozier, John Legend and Meghan Trainor. Watch snippets of the performances here.
The 2015 Billboard Music Awards will be aired again tonight, 18 May at 9pm on RTL CBS Entertainment HD (HyppTV channel 616).
