Beyoncé sings 'Daddy Lessons' with Dixie Chicks at CMA Awards
The Country Music Association Awards had a surprise performer; the crowd loved it
We're not here to talk about how Beyoncé's or the Dixie Chicks' political beliefs should be reflected in whether or not they deserve to perform at the Country Music Association Awards. We're also not here to talk about how people were outraged that any mention of their duet was thought to be deleted from the CMA's social media channels to minimise backlash – but if you need to know, the CMA has cleared that up in a statement.
We're here to ask you to kick back and enjoy this stunning cover of Beyoncé's Daddy Lessons, which was given an extra dose of country when she performed with sisters Natalie Maines, Emily Robison and Martie Maguire at the recent 50th CMA Awards. They also weaved in their old Dixie Chicks classic, Long Time Gone, to the absolute delight of the crowd at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
A reminder for those who think Beyoncé and country music don't go together: Queen Bey was born and raised in Houston, Texas, so you can be sure she knows a thing or two about country music.
Listen to the studio recording of the duet on ">SoundCloud and log in to Tidal to watch Bey's official music video for Daddy Lessons. Hopefully, a YouTube release will follow soon.
