Beyoncé, Jay Z and Solange speak up on the infamous elevator brawl
The performers finally release a statement about that infamous fight
Finally! Jay Z and Solange Knowles have spoken up about their infamous fight in the elevator. Well, not really. Jay Z, Solange and Beyoncé have released a statement on the incident noting that "families have problems and we're no different" after a video leaked of Solange attacking the rap mogul in the Standard Hotel elevator.
“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident," the press statement read. "But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologised to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."
It’s the first comment they’ve made since the video emerged last Monday by TMZ. If you haven't seen it, the muted footage shows the Losing You singer abruptly attacking Jay Z in Beyoncé’s presence while the bodyguard attempts to intervene. The performers were on the way to the Met Gala after-party at that moment. The statement also addresses the rumours claiming that Solange was under the influence of drugs or alcohol that night.
"The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same."
Though there aren't many details explaining what triggered the fight, we hope that the Carters and Knowles have kissed and made up. We're not ready to lose the power family just yet. #staystrong
