Benedict Cumberbatch may be Doctor Strange after all
We've been let down before when we found out that rumours that Benedict Cumberbatch was going to play Doctor Strange in Marvel's free-standing film were slashed. But as luck would have it, Deadline has reported that The Imitation Game actor could be back in negotiations to play the sorcerer supreme, after word of Joaquin Phoenix taking up the role was also slashed.
Seeing Benedict in a high-collared cape may yet come true, even though the actor expressed in July that it would be unlikely that he'll get the role.
"As far as I'm aware, even if that was the case, it couldn't work out because I'm doing a little play called Hamlet in London," he said. "So I don't think I could even if that was in the cards. It sounds like a fantastic project. It's a shame if I miss out, but who knows?"
Christian Bale lands lead in Steve Jobs biopic
[Updated 4 November 2014] Christian Bale has reportedly pulled out of the production even before entering negotiations. Sources told the Hollywood Reporter that after deliberating, the actor decided that he wasn't suited to the role. Leonardo DiCaprio had also been linked to the part as the Apple founder, but he turned it down, too.
No auditions were required for Christian Bale to be pinned down as the newest actor to play late Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, according to screenwriter Aaron Sorkin.
Aaron, who also wrote for 2010 drama The Social Network, told Bloomberg Television that "we needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range and that's Chris Bale." Calling the Oscar-winning actor "phenomenal," he added that the casting process only involved a meeting.
"The role is an extremely difficult role. He has more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined. There isn't a scene or a frame that he's not in. And there's a tremendous amount of language. So it's an extremely difficult part and he is going to crush it."
Two and a Half Men's Ashton Kutcher played Steve in 2013 biopic, Jobs, which received mixed to negative reviews. We can't wait to see how Christian fairs in the new biopic.
Neil Patrick Harris is going to have his own variety show
It's official; NBC has made a deal with Neil Patrick Harris for his own television show. The diverse actor and next year's Oscar host will front the US version of Saturday Night Takeaway, a British variety show, which first aired in 2002. Neil's adaptation, however, will not be called that, and will not air on Saturdays.
"As I watched the show, I couldn't stop smiling. Now that I've seen many seasons, my face hurts. It's a game changer," Neil said. "Nothing like this has been done before, and it's unique structure fits right into my random skill set. I can't wait to roll up my sleeves and have some fun!" We expect there to be lots of music, dancing, comedy, and maybe even cross-dressing (come on, this is NPH we're talking about).
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin break up
It's only been four months, but JLaw and Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin have split up, according to E! Online. The couple had stayed very quiet during their relationship, were barely spotted together, and had never so much as confirmed or hinted anything at all. Jennifer had an amicable break up with her X-Men co-star, Nicholas Hoult, in February. Chris made headlines with his and still-wife Gwyneth Paltrow's conscious uncoupling in March. With all parties back in single relationship statuses, we wonder if there'll be reconciliation with past loves, or if there'll be new ones soon.
North West painted an Hermès bag for mum, Kim Kardashian
Kanye West really knows how to get presents for the woman who has everything, his wife, Kim Kardashian West. Kim celebrated her 34th birthday at Las Vegas' Tao Nightclub, and told Us Weekly that her year-old daughter's gift to mummy was a hand-painted Hermès purse (Kanye's idea, of course).
"Kanye had a box [with an Hermès purse in it] and I opened it up and it was all painted really cool and on my computer was this message that said 'Play' and it was a video of my daughter sitting outside painting the purse," she said. "I had thought it was this new artist who had painted this purse [but] it was my daughter. It was amazing."
We can't wait until the Instagram queen posts a photo of North's finished work.
