Benedict Cumberbatch has another baby boy
The actor and his wife Sophie Hunter might have named him after a Shakespeare character and a poet
The Cumberbatch is growing!
Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter welcomed their second child, a baby boy, on 3 March at Portland Hospital in London. They named their son Hal Auden Cumberbatch, which is believed to be a reference to Prince Hal, the nickname Shakespeare gave the character Henry V in his history play. The Telegraph suggested that the baby's second name Auden was inspired by the poet WH Auden.
News of Sophie's pregnancy first broke last October when she accompanied Benedict to a Los Angeles screening of Doctor Strange. Benedict once jokingly told Graham Norton, way before Sophie's second pregnancy, that he "might go for a Cumber-batch of boys". And now it's true; Hal has an older brother, Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch, who was born in 2015.
