It's just been confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will be in Kuala Lumpur next week for the 2014 Laureus World Sports Awards. Cumbercookies, rejoice! (Many cookies make a batch, get it?)

The British actor joins a list of celebrities who will also be in attendance, including former footballer David Beckham and actor-singer Jamie Foxx.

Benedict, best known for his role as the 'high-functioning sociopath' Sherlock in the BBC crime TV drama of the same name, will be hosting the prestigious awards night. The Laureus World Sports Awards honours outstanding sportsmen and sportswomen, who are voted for by the Laureus Media Selection Panel.

"I am a big sports enthusiast and I am delighted to be able to host such an important event in the sporting year... it will be great to be part of such a special event," Benedict said.

Very special, indeed. We're already having trouble containing our excitement.

Speaking of celebrities coming to KL, tennis goddess and former World No.1 Venus Williams will be competing at the BMW Malaysian Open 2014 in April for the first time. What an eventful first quarter of the year for us. Keep 'em coming, celebs.
