Angelina Jolie continues to do Great Things
Angelina Jolie sheds some much needed light on the crisis in Iraq in two new short films that tell the stories of the women captured by the Islamic State group. In the first, Angie talks to one of the witnesses, Amusha, a 58-year-old woman from Iraq's Yazidi minority who saw her daughter and other women captured by ISIS. She believed they were being sold as slaves. Watch the second documentary here.
But Angie shows no signs of slowing down; just yesterday she announced the creation of the Centre on Women, Peace and Security at the London School of Economics. The new centre aims to educate students to fight the violence against women in warzones. As a special envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Angie attended the event with William Hague, Britain's First Secretary of State.
"I am excited at the thought of all the students in years to come who will study in this new Centre," she said in a statement. "There is no stable future for a world in which crimes committed against women go unpunished. We need the next generation of educated youth with inquisitive minds and fresh energy, who are willing not only to sit in the classroom but to go out into the field and the courtrooms and to make a decisive difference."
Carven has something exciting coming
Scrolling through our Instagram feed last night, we came across this Carven shot of Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Cody Simpson and Justin Bieber. But what really caught our eye was the caption. Could it mean a new campaign? Would the campaign feature these four exceptional young people? We can't wait for whatever Carven has in store for us!
Charli XCX covers Shake It Off
Looks like translating her own songs into Japanese isn't the end for Charli; this time she's done a cover of friend Taylor Swift's Shake It Off. We know Charli was always a bit of a punk rock chick, but we can't tell if we hate it or love it as she transforms the upbeat happy single into a... well listen for yourself.
Lindsay Lohan isn't engaged
Contrary to popular belief, Lindsay Lohan isn't getting married, nor is she dating anyone. Rumours were sparked two days ago when Lindsay was spotted with a huge diamond ring on her left ring finger. Before anything got out of hand, a source close to the actress has announced Lindsay as "not engaged". In fact, the diamond ring has been around for a long time and it's definitely not an engagement ring. Jeez, why can't a single girl buy her own diamond ring and wear it on any finger she likes without being married off?
