Angelina Jolie may retire from acting
Maleficent star hints at tying off her acting career with a Cleopatra biopic
Angelina Jolie has been planning her Hollywood exit for a while, at least in terms of being in front of the camera. In an interview with BBC Radio 5, the mother of six suggested that her acting swan song may be a Cleopatra biopic.
The Academy Award winner has created not only a name, but a distinct look for herself, immortalising iconic characters like Lara Croft and more recently, the nefarious Maleficent. As for the big shoes she has to fill – Cleopatra was most famously played by the inimitable Elizabeth Taylor in 1963 – we wouldn't put doing that successfully past Angelina.
"She's complicated, it's complicated to get this one right. I think we're getting there. It's very close. I imagine the preparation for it is going to be big. It's one of those you feel like maybe that's the one you put everything into and that's where you end it, that's where you finish – in a great way," Angelina said.
Cleopatra will probably go on top of her return as Master Tigress in Kungfu Panda 3, which is slated for a 2015 release.
It has also been hinted before that the dedicated humanitarian and her fiancée Brad Pitt may come together to work on an original script by the Angelina herself, so if we're lucky enough, we're looking at another possible film before Cleopatra. We don't reckon the two are the same film, since Angelina revealed that Eric Roth penned the Cleopatra script.
