Amy Schumer is all for girl squads
The outspoken actress also wants women in Hollywood to have more "human" roles
Why do we love Amy Schumer? She has no qualms about standing up for women and expressing herself. At the ELLE Women in Hollywood Awards on Monday, the Trainwreck actress (and our heroine) said that she wants to continue uniting women in Hollywood. And if it takes the 'girl squad' movement to do that, all the better.
"I would like to join any squad that would have me as a member. I think it's really interesting that this phrasing has popped up," she told reporters as she arrived at the event. "Like all of a sudden, it's not just your friends any more. You're a squad," she continued. "It kind of makes it sound more powerful. I'm all for it."
Amy also wants for actresses in Hollywood to be given roles that are real.
"Like, them playing human beings instead of, like, caricatures from the 1920s," she added.
The 34-year-old comedienne later delivered a speech onstage, handing some of the most straightforward advice to us women: "Don't waste your energy being angry and fighting against something that might not even show up to fight you. We just need to focus all our energy on raising each other up and living to our full potential. Because if we don't do it, who will? We have the tools, we have the clits."
