Alessandra Ambrosio bids farewell to Victoria's Secret
The model has been a face of the lingerie brand for 17 years
Victoria's Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio is hanging up her wings after 17 years. The runway show that took place in Shanghai recently is her last catwalk for the lingerie brand. In an emotional Instagram post, she thanked Victoria's Secret, her fellow Angels and her fans for their support.
"Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have been working for this amazing brand that inspires me and women all over the world," she wrote. "In my wildest dreams I would have never imagined doing 17 Victoria's Secret Fashion Shows. Thank you Ed [Razek], and all my Victoria's Secret family for making these memories so unforgettable."
"Last night was so emotional to say goodbye to my #angel sisters but we put on the biggest and best show ever," she continued. "I could not have done this without all the love and support from my fans. It gives me great pride to be part [of the] Victoria's Secret movement! I will always be cheering for you! Love you forever."
Alessandra has been a Victoria's Secret Angel since 2000; this makes her, alongside Adriana Lima, the longest-serving face of the brand. She has also twice been given the honour of wearing the Fantasy Bra, once in 2012 and another time alongside Adriana in 2014.
We doubt fans would be surprised to hear of Alessandra's exit; rumours of her leaving have been going on since 2014. According to Entertainment Tonight, the veteran model will be focusing on her swimwear line, ále by Alessandra and her acting career.
