Anggun on how to nail your 'Asia's Got Talent' audition
"I don't do reptiles." The Asia's Got Talent judge tells ELLE what works and what doesn't on the show
Anggun, one of Asia's Got Talent Season 2 judges, has basically seen it all. So she knows what she wants to see at a talent show and what she doesn't. In a recent interview, she gave us a few tips on how to impress her and her colleagues.
1. You have to know what you're doing and if you can do it well
"Your craft has to be on point. What you want to do and the way you do it, has to get the message through. When you arrive on stage and you have to grab the attention within minutes. Sometimes, even less than a minute, you have to be liked right away."
2. Know how to work the crowd
"You have to work the public, you have to work the crowd. You have to make a kind of connection with them because otherwise, you'll be playing for yourself."
3. It's about entertaining the public
"Work on the fact that you are making a show for people to see. They don't always like the same thing but they are always the ones to be entertained. So you have to keep that in mind."
4. No reptiles, please
"I hit the buzzer when it's something that looks like they may hurt themselves. And the last performance I didn't enjoy was with animals. With snakes. I don't do reptiles. That makes me hit the red buzzer."
Catch Anggun with fellow judges David Foster and Jay Park in the premiere episode of Asia's Got Talent Season 2 tonight at 8.30pm on AXN (Astro Channel 701 and Channel 721 for HD).
