Brian See on what makes a man stylish
ELLE Style Awards winner Brian See shares his personal style and fragrance advice
How would you describe your personal style?
I don't like to constrain my style or what I should wear. I would say that my style is very versatile, and it depends on my mood and the occasion.
How do you get dressed in the morning?
Every day is a new day for me. I would start off by choosing the right colour and also material, depending on the weather. I will choose my top and then only my pants and shoes to match the overall look.
Do you have any particular outfit combinations you like to return to, or do you try to wear something different every day?
I will of course return to basics when I'm feeling too lazy to dress up, so a T-shirt and jeans is always my easiest and first choice when I'm in a hurry. But if I have more time and am in the mood, I will definitely think of something new every day.
Do you have any style rules?
Style and fashion to me are borderless and there is no right or wrong. The most important thing is to wear something you are confident and comfortable in.
What makes a man stylish?
Grooming. Always look clean! You don't have to put too much on yourself but focusing on details is very important too.
What kind of fragrances do you like?
I'm actually a fragrance collector. I like fragrances that capture my attention, whether through the scent or the bottle design. I personally like a smell that is more fresh and energetic.
Do you wear fragrance every day?
Yes, it's an essential in my daily life. It's like air to me; I can't live without it. I feel insecure if I'm not wearing fragrance.
What do you think a man's fragrance should say about him?
Everyone has their own preferences, so it's really hard to judge someone based on their fragrance. Kinda unfair right? [laughing]
What pieces from a man's wardrobe can a woman borrow and make her own?
Girls should always flip through their boyfriend's wardrobe for the oversized shirt and boyfriend jeans for that baggy and rugged look.
