The luxury cosmetics brand's founder was 89 years old
Hubert d'Ornano, founder of Sisley, died last Friday, aged 89.
"Mrs. Isabelle d'Ornano, his spouse, together with Philippe, Elisabeth and Christine d'Ornano, his children, have the great sadness to inform you of the loss of M. Hubert d'Ornano, founder of Sisley," a statement from the Sisley family reads.
Hubert, who built Sisley into a global brand, is known for revolutionising phyto-cosmetology, which involves using the best plant extracts in beauty products.
"I love the countryside," Hubert once said. "I am aware that, thanks to modern technology, it is in plants that one can make the biggest discoveries, not only for medicine, but also for cosmetics."
