Pat McGrath's new gold pigment product is out
It's a super pigmented pot of gold – we wouldn't expect anything less from Pat
It's finally here – the first product from Pat McGrath's own makeup line is out, and we're buzzing.
We got a first glimpse of it at Prada's Spring 2016 show (below), where Pat was backstage and at it again, painting models lips in uber gold lacquer, which was this new product that's just come out. A week later, she staged a total takeover at Paris Fashion Week, adorning anyone they could get their hands on at the Tuileries gardens with gilded lips, lids and lashes.
That night, a release came from Pat that she's created her very own makeup product, Gold 001. Right then, a ticking clock appeared on her new online platform, Pat McGrath Labs, counting down to the day when the product will be released. This is all a run-up to Pat's launch of her full eponymous makeup brand next year, huge news that shook the industry (and us).
And now, we have the first released product. Gold 001, available for purchase on patmcgrath.com in limited quantity at a price of $40 (approx. RM172) each. It's delivered in a pouch stuffed in gold sequins, inside which lies the gold pigment itself, a spatula, Mehron mixing liquid and a second life container in which to store it. You can apply it from the original container, smash the pigment with the spatula and transfer it into the other container or apply it with a brush dipped in the mixing liquid for that molten look.
It pretty much looks like gold leaf when pressed into the skin, with seemingly butter-soft texture that just glides on. A dream for makeup artists the planet over. Pat describes it as "multidimensional, microfine pigment that knows no limits," goading us on to "Break the rules and be inventive. Gild eyelids and Cupid’s bow. Electrify brows and lips. Buff into skin for blinding luminosity."
