The beauty industry is in a tizzy over news of the launch of Pat McGrath's first ever, all-her-own makeup product. Pat is a legend for beauty editors, makeup junkies and fashion fans alike: she sets the bar at every Fashion Week for boundary-smashing makeup incarnations and she's the brain behind products like Dior's iconic Diorshow Mascara and loads of others from Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Max Factor.

For the past couple months, Pat's been dropping hints about gold, giving us an inkling that something big was about to go down. First she adorned Kim Kardashian with heavily gilded brows and lids for The Violet Files (above, left).

Then, at Spring/Summer 2016 she did another face-covering number at Givenchy where the girls were decked out in chunks of bling (above, middle) and lacquered the models at Prada with ultra-vivid gold lipstick (above, right). Soon after a press release from Pat's office heralded the coming of a gold product, describing it as "mysterious, high-impact, rich, metallic pigment".

Finally, 5 days ago, this video appeared on her Instagram account:

And today, the cat's out of the bag: Pat has confirmed she's conjured her very own makeup product, titled 'Gold 001': a dazzling gold paint swimming with flecks of glitter that goes on the eyes, lips or cheeks. The launch took place at the Tuileries gardens in Paris, where Pat and her team slathered models, editors and the public in gobs of the gold pigment.

With its debut she also launched, her own forthcoming website for 'Pat McGrath Labs', which isn't much of anything right now except for a clock counting down 20 days, but you can sign up to get updates on Gold 001. We don't know what the product actually looks like, or any further details, but we'll update you as the info comes in.

Our guess is Pat is venturing out on her own, building her brand, via her massive influence in the beauty industry. We can't wait!
