Chanel to launch new fragrance Gabrielle Chanel this autumn
Everything you need to know about the Year of Gabrielle
The year 2017 at Chanel is all about celebrating its founder, and one of the most exciting parts of its calendar will be the launch of its first fragrance pillar since the Chance, which was 15 years ago.
In September 2017, the brand will expand its fragrance range to include the new Gabrielle Chanel, a floral scent that is expected to be as ground-breaking as the woman it is named after.
"We were exploring this whole moment of before Coco – who she really was at the core and that's what we wanted to express in this new fragrance," Chanel's global president of fragrance Christine Dagousset told WWD.
On the fashion side of things, Chanel's Gabrielle bag, which made its debut last October during the SS17 runway show, will be fronted by four Chanel muses: Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne, Caroline de Maigret and Pharrell Williams. Pharrell will also be the first man to front a Chanel bag campaign.
To put it simply: one name, three shapes (backpack, tote and purse), various colours and sizes. Karl Lagerfeld translated Gabrielle's elegance and strength into the attitude of Chanel's Gabrielle Bag, which launches in April.
In further celebration of Gabrielle Chanel, the first of four new videos about her has been released. Gabrielle, a Rebel at Heart is also the eighteenth entry to the Inside Chanel series. The title will already give you a hint of what to expect in the video, but know that you may come out of it wanting to be as relentless, invincible and rebellious as the woman it speaks of.
