Brooklyn Beckham shoots his first Burberry campaign
The eldest Beckham boy is officially a photographer
Brooklyn Beckham must be brushing off the hate and accusations of nepotism right now. The eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham can already put down a pretty cool campaign for Burberry on his photography resume.
The new Burberry Brit fragrance campaign is the first to combine all six scents for men and women under one collection. The women's scents are Burberry Brit For Her, Burberry Brit Rhythm Floral and Burberry Brit Sheer. The men's scents are Burberry Brit For Him, Burberry Brit Rhythm and Burberry Brit Splash.
Brooklyn shot the campaign live on Instagram in January. The budding photographer's own Instagram account is testament to his passion and he seems a great fit for Burberry. Even President Christopher Bailey thinks so: "Brooklyn has a really great eye for image and Instagram works brilliantly for him as a platform to showcase his work. His style and attitude were exactly what we wanted to capture the spirit of this new fragrance campaign."
However, leading photographers have criticised Brooklyn, suggesting that the brand's decision to hire the inexperienced 17-year-old was a mere name-selling stunt and that he would have plenty of help in terms of production, so all he'd have to do is press the shutter button. In defense of Brooklyn, 29-year-old fashion photographer Sarah Brimley told The Guardian: "I don't think he feels entitled and I don't imagine he's this spoilt brat. He hasn't had to do the work the rest of us have to do but… he probably knows how lucky he is."
And boy, is he lucky! Everybody's gotta start somewhere, and it's not often that you get your photos published everywhere by a big brand, so who can blame Brooklyn for seizing the opportunity? David and Victoria must be so, so proud.
