Beautiful Belgian football fan scores L'Oréal modelling gig
Axelle Despiegelaere wins L'Oréal contract after a photo of her cheering at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil goes viral
[Updated 14 July 2014] A L'Oreal representative has confirmed that Axelle Despiegelaere's contract with L'Oréal Professionnel has been completed and that she is not one of the cosmetics brand's spokespeople. L'Oréal Professionnel Belgium collaborated with her on an ad hoc basis to produce a video for social media use in Belgium.
Who knew that putting some effort into how you look and cheering your heart out at a FIFA World Cup match could get you spotted by L'Oreal? Photogenic 17-year-old Axelle Despiegelaere won a contract with L'Oreal after a photo of her taken at the Group H match between her home team and Russia went viral.
It may not be a World Cup win for Belgium after they lost to Argentina in the quarter-finals, but Axelle, who was photographed wearing Belgium's colours in the massive crowd may yet excel in her surprise modelling gig.
Just days ago, L'Oreal made a video starring the blonde beauty, who already has her own Wikipedia and Facebook page with over 260,000 fans and counting. It has not yet been made clear how Axelle will serve as L'Oreal Professionnel Belgilux's new face.
However, a little more background on teenager has come to light and a recently-emerged photo of her has revealed that she is a game hunter. In the offending photo, Axelle holds a gun next to a dead Oryx gazelle, which she presumably killed in Africa.
No word yet on whether Axelle's fairytale fame will be affected by her hobby, seeing as how her new employer has a strong stand for animal welfare and has stopped animal testing completely since 2013.
