Annick Goutal Rose Pompon has us hooked
Watch Camille Goutal talk about the new fragrance
I recently sat down with Camille Goutal (Annick Goutal's daughter, perfumer extraodinaire and heir to the Annick Goutal empire) to talk about her new Rose Pompon fragrance. The new perfume belongs in the fragrance house's classics range, packing sweet, fresh, supremely rosy accords.
She described the fluffy, white Rose Pompons she loves seeing in the French countryside, and how she and Isabelle Doyen, fellow nose of the brand, picked Bulgarian and Taïf Rose for the heart. It's all roses, yet never heady or cloying. "Our ingredients are more subtle, delicate, not overwhelming or overpowering; ours are the accords that Isabelle and I love," mused Camille.
With a woody base of cedar, patchouli and white musk, and top notes of blackcurrant and raspberry, spiked with spicy rose pepper, wrapped around a heart of roses and peony, Rose Pompon is utterly addictive. The fragrance is so unfussy and easy to wear, invokes a citrusy, grapefruit-esque scent on the skin, and is so fresh, we couldn’t stop sniffing at the scent cards.
