Alber Elbaz is making a perfume
The designer announces a perfume collaboration with Frédéric Malle after being awarded the Commander of the Legion of Honour title
Paris Fashion Week has been an eventful one for former Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz. He was first awarded with the Commander of the Legion of Honor title yesterday, the highest French order for military and civil merits. This follows the Officer of the Legion of Honour title that Elbaz received in March this year.
Shortly after, Elbaz revealed that he has a collaboration with French perfumer Frédéric Malle in the works. Named Superstitious, the fragrance is Malle's second-ever designer collaboration and it will be released in select markets from March 2017.
"The word 'Superstitious' was the starting point of it all, something we agreed upon immediately," Elbaz said in a press release. "We are both superstitious. It's not about a collaboration, it's about friendship and respect."
"I have always admired Alber for making the women who wear his clothes appear even more beautiful," Malle added. "Like Alber's dresses, Superstitious elevates the women that wear it, it empowers them."
There's little information on the fragrance, but the lucky guests who attended his award ceremony yesterday got to sample the perfume firsthand. Elbaz constantly expresses his desire to create clothes that make women more beautiful, so we can only expect that whatever the scent, the fragrance will be an alluring one.
