5 things Salma Hayek just taught us about beauty
She never washes her face in the morning. Fact
Salma Hayek is one of the most beautiful women in the world. Like, really. We've always wondered how she keeps her skin radiant while juggling her acting career, charity work and family life, so when the busy mother-of-one sat down with The Cut to discuss her beauty line, Nuance Salma Hayek, and happened to spill some beauty secrets, we were all ears. Here's what we learned.
1 Skip washing your face in the morning. Moisturise instead.
"I don't wash my face in the morning — never, never, never. I never wash my face in the morning, I think it’s bad for your skin — I just moisturise. I really wash my face at night."
2 Face massages are important.
"That's very important, but I’m lazy about. If I wear a lot of makeup, I'll use the Marigold Oil Cleansing Oil," she told The Cut when asked if she massages her face with cream.
3 Salma is not a fan of SPF.
"SPF on its own is good, but I’m sorry, SPF in creams and makeup is a big mistake," she said, adding that we shouldn't really use makeup or creams with SPF because it affects the effectiveness of the product. And Salma thinks we generally don't need to wear SPF as much as we think because we are indoors 90 per cent of the time.
4 Tepezcohuite is her miracle ingredient. And it's cheap.
When asked how she keeps her beauty line Nuance affordable, she said that the secret is an ingredient called tepezcohuite, which is used to help burns victims with skin regeneration.
5 She doesn't follow a routine.
According to Salma, what she does depends on how her skin "wakes up" on a certain day. "I don't do it like a machine. I look at it, I pay attention. I talk to it. like, 'What do we need today?' And then I have all of my potions."
